Our 5-Phase Medical Weight Loss Program
Many of our patients come to us with the desire to lose weight fast. They ask us to reveal secrets to losing weight quickly when they should be asking,“Why can’t I lose weight?” This is the question we aim to answer by focus on underlying issues that may be preventing you from losing weight, namely your hormones.
Hormones are your body’s chemical messengers and, every day, the amount of stress you’re under, the amount of sleep you get, the foods you choose to eat, and the activities you participate in all have an impact on your hormones. When your hormones are off balance, your body’s systems can be affected, including your ability to lose weight. Our medical team, along with Greater Pittsburgh Medical Weight Loss centers have developed a completely customized and medically supervised, five phase system to help you lose weight. This program identifies why you’re not losing weight and allows our medical team to work with you to balance your hormones to help you lose weight and live a healthier life for the long-term.
Phase I: Discover
Our medical weight loss team, comprised of a medical doctor, nurse practitioner, and weight loss counselors, work with you to discover why you’re not losing weight as efficiently as you should. Once your weight loss program begins, you will have a complete lab testing panel to reveal any underlying issues that may be preventing your weight loss. This test measures your sex hormones, stress hormones, vitamin deficiencies, inflammation levels, thyroid function, blood sugar levels, and metabolism. Once your results are in, our medical team will analyze the results and your weight loss counselor will explain each of your results and how they fit into the context of your custom weight loss plan.
Phase II: Remove
Now that your weight loss roadblock have been identified, it’s time to start removing them. You will meet with your weight loss counselor for one-on-one nutrition counseling and begin planning the detoxification of your body to create a fat burning environment. Along with your detox, your weight loss counselor will also introduce you to a high protein diet and meal plan that will suit your schedule, and any other tools your counselor selects for your success. The best part is that your counselor will stick with you during every phase of your weight loss journey to offer advice, diet recipes, and weight loss tips.
Phase III: Accelerate
During this phase, your counselor will pay close attention to your successes and setbacks to determine which foods, medical weight loss tools, and weight loss supplements work best to boost your energy and kick your fat loss into high gear.
Phase IV: Transition
You will move up to the transition phase once you’ve lost an accelerated amount of weight. During this phase, you will continue to gradually lose a few pounds a week while starting to shape and sculpt your body. The Transition phase shifts the fitness focus from burning fat to building muscle and toning trouble zones. Many patients also begin body contouring treatments during this phase, if they haven’t already, to tighten skin and smooth cellulite while they work to reach their final goals.
Phase V: Maintenance
You’ve reached your goal weight! During the maintenance phase you will meet with your counselor to take an “after” photo and review everything that you’ve learned. This is when you can choose to continue with any of our services or be reevaluated for more medical products if you are looking to lose more weight. You may also continue with counseling, supplements, foods, and body contouring, but your schedule will be more flexible.
